About this wine:
Considering this is one of the mostly widely planted grape varieties in the world, Grenache still represents a pretty small slice of the pie here in the U.S., and it has come a long way from the days of the odd shaped bottle in a net that was refreshingly served with 7-Up back in the 80’s. A native grape from the Northeast corner of Spain and Southern France, Grenache is fantastic both as a blending component and as a standalone varietal. It brings a certain unique rusticity and smoky character together with more typical black currant, blackberry and cherry flavors, and maybe just a touch of tobacco and licorice flavors. Great with beef short ribs and a Montecristo No. 2.
