About this wine:
Many people ask about the name “Petite Sirah” and its origins as a grape. While there is ample academic discussion about it, the only thing Petite about it remains our profit margin. The berries themselves can be as large as or larger than Syrah grapes, and our Petite Sirah in particular ranks high in the pantheon big, inky, juicy and extracted mouth filling pleasures. In the wrong hands Petite Sirah can have tannins strong enough to knock you to the floor, but the beast has been tamed and you won’t have to get up and dust yourself off here. A hint of spiciness, white pepper and tobacco complement concentrated fruit flavors that hang on a firm structure of assertive, but not overly aggressive tannins. This wine might give you that purple teeth stained grin, but like garlic breath, it’s okay if everybody has it. You just have to share.
