About this wine:

Deep, dark, rich and chocolaty, the Great Oaks Syrah has been one of the quiet favorites among those who like big things. There's just the right punch of cherry and sweet spice flavors within a sturdy frame of balanced tannins, and they all hang together for one of the longer finishes we've tasted. Some people have likened this wine to chocolate covered cherries, and given the romantic association of chocolate covered cherries we considered releasing this wine around Valentines Day as its own event. But then we realized that if you were with someone you really liked on a romantic Valentines Day, and shared a bottle of this stuff, you better be at home. As with the Star Lane Syrah, this wine matured through 24 months of barrel ageing in a combination of French and good old American oak barrels, and has been touched by just a little Zinfandel in the blend.
