As you’re gearing up for that early fall camping trip, don’t forget to pack the 2005 Great Oaks Syrah. This spicy, rich, bold and chocolaty syrah stands up to that 2 inch Steak Fiorentina you’ll be grilling over raging hot lumps of mesquite, and hopefully the raging hot person you’ll be sharing it with.. Our Syrah from this vineyard has always been a big wine, but has had that chocolate covered cherry flavor that’s given it a little finesse…a nice balance of strength and the ability to romance. The 2005 vintage matured through 20 months of barrel aging in a combination of French and good old American oak, and was blended with just a hint of Petite Sirah to round it out.
